Galvanized Chain Link Mesh Fence

Galvanized chain link mesh is steel wire woven into a diamond pattern and coated in zinc to resist rust. It makes strong, see-through fencing for farm boundaries, goat pens, chicken runs, gardens and fish ponds. It keeps animals in and predators and stray animals out while allowing air and light through. Common openings are about 50 to 60 mm, with wire gauges from about 2 to 4 mm and roll heights from 1 to 3 m.

How to install

• Clear and level the fence line.
• Set metal or concrete posts every 2 to 3 m and fix them firmly.
• Unroll the mesh along the line and tie it to the posts with binding wire or tension bands.
• Pull it tight with a tension bar or stretcher before tying the ends to corner posts.
• Add top and bottom straining wires for a firmer fence.

Care

• Check the fence after storms and repair breaks early.
• Bury the bottom edge or add a concrete strip to stop dogs and rodents digging under.

The openings are too wide for snakes and rats. Line the lower part with finer mesh for that.
