Karate 5EC contains lambda-cyhalothrin 5% EC, a pyrethroid that works at low rates. Insects that touch or eat treated leaves are paralysed and die quickly. It controls a wide range of pests in one spray: armyworms, bollworms, grasshoppers, locusts, aphids, jassids, cotton stainers, leaf miners, thrips and beetles. It is used on cotton, beans, cowpea, maize, sorghum, soybean, wheat and vegetables, and is a popular, cost-effective choice for Nigerian farmers.

How to use
Recommended rate: 1.5 to 2ml per litre of water (about 25 to 30ml per 15-litre knapsack). Follow the label for your crop.
- Cotton: start about 10 weeks after planting or at first flowering, and repeat as pests return.
- Other crops: spray when pests appear and repeat based on pest pressure.
Tips for best results
- Lambda-cyhalothrin is toxic to bees and fish. Avoid open flowers and keep away from water.
- Rotate with emamectin benzoate or another group to slow resistance.
Safety
- Read and follow the product label before use. The label rate is the legal and correct rate.
- Wear gloves, boots, long sleeves and a face mask or shield when mixing and spraying.
- Do not eat, drink or smoke while spraying. Wash hands and face after use.
