The Shubunkin is a calico goldfish with pearly scales and patches of red, white, blue, grey and black that run into the fins. It has a slim body and even fins like a comet goldfish, so it is a fast, lively swimmer. Shubunkins are hardy and suit both beginners and experienced keepers. They do very well in garden ponds, where they can grow large, as well as in big aquariums. Minimum order is 20 pieces.

How to keep them
- Give plenty of swimming space; ponds or large tanks are best.
- Use a good filter; goldfish make a lot of waste.
- Feed flakes or pellets in small amounts once or twice daily.
- Keep with other goldfish or koi.

- Fish travel in oxygen-filled bags.
- Float the bag for 15-20 minutes, then add tank water slowly.
- Net the fish in and do not feed on the first day.
