The Siamese fighter, or betta fish, is a popular ornamental fish for freshwater aquariums. It is known for bright colours and long, flowing fins. Our bettas are about 16 to 17 weeks old and are sold with a minimum order of 20 pieces. Males are very territorial and will fight, so keep each male alone. Bettas eat insects and pellets, grow to about 7cm and live 2 to 3 years. They suit hobbyists, aquarium shops and resellers.

How to keep them
- Keep each male in its own tank or bowl; males fight if housed together.
- Use clean, dechlorinated water and change part of it every week.
- Feed small amounts of betta pellets, bloodworms or other insect-based food once or twice a day.
- Cover the tank, as bettas can jump.
Delivery and care on arrival
- Fish travel in oxygenated bags inside ventilated boxes.
- Float the closed bag in the tank for 15 to 20 minutes so the water temperatures match.
- Add a little tank water to the bag over 10 minutes, then net the fish into the tank.
- Do not feed on the first day; let them settle.

No. Males attack each other and one may die. Keep males alone. Females can share a large tank but may also fight.
