How To Grow A Carrot And Harvest It
Give carrots loose, rich soil that is free of clods and stones, and they will grow easily.
Create a healthy nursery environment.
For the farmland to be flat, the field must be leveled.
Apply water evenly throughout the farmland.
To accommodate the carrots, make shallow, narrow grooves along the field, either horizontally or vertically.
Plant in the late afternoon or early morning.
Prepare a 20.5-23 cm-deep bed that has been ploughed.
Early in the spring, sow the seeds at a depth of 0.5 to 1.5 cm.
Separate rows by 30 to 46 cm.
After around 10 to 14 days, the carrots will begin to sprout if you water them every morning and evening.
When plants are 2.5 cm tall, thin poor seedlings and overloaded plants.
Warm, moist soil is ideal for carrot germination. While the seeds germinate, cover the soil with transparent polyethylene.
When the seedlings appear, remove the film.
While the carrots grow, keep the bed moist.
When the upper portion of the carrots begins to push out and becomes visible, they are ready to be harvested.
Tips:
In Nigeria, grasshoppers are a frequent pest of carrots. Use Lara Force Gold insecticide, Laraforce insecticide, and Neemsol GA to prevent this from happening.
