Plants are vigorous and handle field stress better than many open-pollinated local types. Frequently asked questions
Why pay more for hybrid pepper seed?
Hybrids like Piquante Red give more uniform fruit and stronger plants than many local seeds, which helps when selling to traders and supermarkets.
Which states can grow Piquante Red F1?
It can be grown in most pepper zones in Nigeria, including Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Kaduna, Kano, Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa, Enugu and Delta.
Can I replant seed from my harvest?
No. It is an F1 hybrid; saved seed will give uneven plants and lower yield.
Do I sow directly in the field?
No. Raise seedlings in a nursery first, then transplant for a better stand and less seed waste.
